Day 26: Let’s get some things accomplished

So our intentions today were to do at least 60 miles to a rest stop. Leaving this area means no campgrounds for awhile, and no service for awhile. We start the day at 8am and have plans to ride 9 miles to start into Teslin (town) and stop at the gas station/motel/RV/restaurant for breakfast and fill up our waters. We remembered it was a great place to stop and rest as we traveled up to Prudhoe Bay, AK. So away we went on the road to our first stop. Breakfast.

An easy, casual 9 miles it was. The place we stopped was called the Yukon Motel. It was full of vehicles filling up gas and apparently either staying at the hotel or getting themselves some breakfast. I had been craving eggs so I was stoked to get myself an “American” breakfast in the Yukon.

When we walked in, we found the restaurant packed with one little table left just for us. We both ordered us an American breakfast and it was so delicious. Not fancy by any means, but a lot of food and my eggs! As we were sitting there we started to discuss the computer work that we needed to catch up on, as well as emails and phone calls that needed to be made. There was quite a bit, so we asked the owner if we could put up a tent in the back with the RV sites. YES! $20 and a full belly later we were setting up our tent for the night.

Wifi was good here. So back in the restaurant/bar area we went for the day to focus on computer work that needed to be accomplished. The day went fast. It’s amazing when you are on the computer how the time flies by. We literally were in the restaurant until about 7pm working before we decided maybe we should eat some dinner and call it a day from all the work. Work got accomplished, but still there were things that needed to be done. So we went to the counter to buy us another night of stay here to continue our work.

Dinner tonight consisted of a bean mixture William had made when we were in Whitehorse, and we cooked up some noodles as well to throw in the mix. It was quite good. Even Aurora got a little taste of some of the dinner tonight. The night was beautiful. Temperatures were falling, but it felt good. It was supposed to get in to the high 30’s during the night, while tomorrow is supposed to hit 70 again. My kind of weather!

So instead of staying up too late tonight, we decided to hit the hay early even though it surely didn’t seem that way. That darn sun still won’t go down all the way yet! I think it’s going to be mighty strange when the night actually becomes night again for us. Strange, yet I’ll probably sleep a bit better. Sleep has been very difficult for me without a black out tent! Ha! A black out curtain just wouldn’t do in our situation.

But anyways, hopefully the weather is correct and we wake to another beautiful day of sunshine and warmer weather. Thank you Yukon for keeping us a bit warmer these past few days!
