Day 25: Wind

Yup WIND! So again William’s prediction of the weather is incorrect. He said “tomorrow’s going to be great. 1-5mph wind tomorrow.” Ugh huh. Sorry, wrong again. It was warm during the afternoon, but the wind was horrendous. HORRENDOUS I tell you!

So the ride actually starts off pretty good. Little wind, a bit chilly, but definately with no concerns at the moment. We are strolling along for about 10 miles, when all of a sudden….I’m sure you can guess it….WIND!! Head wind! But of course, there is no such thing as a tail wind! duh! Tail winds are like unicorns. they DON’T exist!

Ugggghhhhh, William’s knees were hurting, my legs felt good, but we were pushing through this strong wind that it felt like we weren’t getting anywhere. Even downhills didn’t feel like downhills because it was so windy. That’s the worst! YAY its a downhill, oh wait, I still have to pedal! Downhills are for cruising people! To give the body a break. “NOT today!” Mother Nature screams. Thanks a lot!

On the bright side the weather really warmed up. William was in his t-shirt and I had a t-shirt and long sleeve on with no wind/rain pants on. Of course it felt really hot when we were driving our bikes up the climbs, but I didn’t mind it coming from the Arctic.

Honestly that sums up the day. We pushed hard through the wind, and made it 75 miles to Teslin Lake Campground. It took us much longer than expected, but we made it.

So the evening is short, legs are swollen from climbing and wind today, and we are ready to crash! Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
