Day 23: Whitehorse and Red Foxes

We made it! The first night anyways in this sketchy hotel. NO problems so far, however, we still have to survive another night in this place! lol

So first things first after a well rested night. Walk Aurora. So not even a block away from the hotel we see a fox in the road! MAMA fox to be exact! How do we know? About 20 feet from this fox, who wasn’t taking her eyes off Aurora, was 4 little pups! Mama fox was being very strategic. She saw us and started to bark at us and walk away from her pups? Bark? Is that the proper term? Not sure, but I didn’t realized red foxes even made this noise I was hearing. Apparently Mama fox was luring us away from her pups. These pups were the sweetest. I wanted to cuddle with them. They were near an abandoned building and you could see where they burrowed a path under the building for protection and I’m sure a home. So this is the first positive of this hotel…next to the home of adorable foxes!

When we got back to the hotel, we finished up some computer work and headed out for a late afternoon lunch at a place called Miner’s Daughter/Dirty Northern. WOW it was delicious and really nice ambiance. And funny enough we walked into the Tampa Bay Rays playing the NY Yankees on the T.V. I guess Tampa is following us everywhere we go. Go RAYS. We ordered chicken wings, saucy pork ribs, and a pizza. Yes we ate it all and enjoyed every bit of it! Ok, so maybe that’s another good thing about this hotel as well, it was walking distance to this delicious bar/restaurant!

Well after a few good things said about this hotel we are staying at, let me inform you of another con of this place. Worse incident yet. So I’m standing in the lobby, in line, to ask a question about our room. As I’m standing there, this man comes walking through the lobby saying “Don’t stay here. This place is a piece of sh*t.” Hmmmmmm. Well he looked a bit drunk and from the way he was slurring his words I’d say he was. Then came more vulgar words…. “Go home you tourist M-Fer’s! This hotel kicks us out when you come in here. This is our home. Stupid C*ck S*ckers! F-U!” Yikes I thought. Can this place get any worse?! I looked at the young man in front of me after the guy left and asked him, ” was this the cheapest place you found in town?” He looked at me with concern and said “Yes. And I’m leaving early in the morning after seeing that.” We both chuckled and I told him I couldn’t blame him and that was our plan too. lol This hotel really is horrible place.

After finally reaching the front desk safely, lol, I took my buns back upstairs to relax and watch a movie! What movie? How about an 80’s movie. Why not, right?! North Shore. It’s an old surfer movie. I had never seen it, but William had. It was actually a really good movie, with a bit of a love story too.

While watching the movie we heard a noice outside. So to the window I went and there I saw downstairs (us being on the second floor) was a women with a bag full of aluminum cans tossing the cans in a mans window downstairs. What the heck? He was yelling as she was trying to shove these cans inside his window. How much weirder can this place get really?

So after a nice relaxing movie, good food, an interesting angry man, and a women with a mission to get cans inside a hotel window, I’d call it a day. I guess I should hope for another safe evening at the “Canadas Best” Inn. Can’t wait to get out of here tomorrow! Catch ya later world.
